When we (Rod and Beryl) stay at a B&B, often we don’t want to
go out to eat. We’d prefer to get some food from somewhere and eat it in,
possibly so we don’t miss a favourite TV programme. Our choices are a
take-away or a supermarket trawl. For the latter we wander round a supermarket
putting into the basket salad items, spreads, crusty rolls, preserves, tinned
fruit, cheese, cooked meats, cakes and so on – we’re sure you get
the point.
The problem here is that when we get the food back we usually feel it
has to be smuggled in and success depends on us having all the necessary
cutlery, crockery, a tin opener, and so on, (all of which we carry in a case
nicknamed “the kitchen sink”).
When you stay with us at DoveVale you don’t have to worry about
any of that. We put out crockery and our (second best) cutlery in the dining
room, where you should also find a tin and bottle opener. You can then enjoy
your food, and the TV is available should you require it. Note, we will try to provide
any other non-food items you request (but not cooking of food).
Your “Supermarket Trawl” can take place at the Co-op store
in the village. This is very well stocked, but for more choice most of the top
names in supermarkets are within 15 minutes drive. An easy option is the local
Fish & Chip shop, which has an excellent reputation.
Takeaways can be collected or delivered. There are details for this in
the Welcome Pack in each room. We
reckon there are at least five local suppliers that will deliver food to
DoveVale.
If you are in a group occupying more than one bedroom you may want to
use the dining room as a communal room in the evening.
