There are many suggestions in the Welcome Pack in your room, but we have an easy option – take a three minute stroll to the Castle Hotel. A sample of its menu is in your room Welcome Pack. Food is served in the restaurant or the bar, both of which are open from 6 p.m.

Otherwise there are two other eating places in the village and at least three in neighbouring Tutbury. Five miles away in Burton there are countless possibilities and it would be an unusual village in the surrounding area if it did not offer venues for eating. The range in the Burton and South Derbyshire area is enormous.

There are two venues half a mile to the north of us (both at the traffic lights). Sunar Gow is described as 'a contemporary Indian restaurant offering a quick meal or fine dining in comfortable surroundings'. The Salt Box café (see below) is a traditional roadside eating place that has a deservedly widespread reputation for the quality of its food. The range of that food is what you would expect from a traditional roadside eating place – but don’t forget the quality. You will be in good company judging by the standard of the business people’s cars lined up outside at lunchtime. It closes at 7 pm in the evening. (The time the Salt Box opens is irrelevant, because you’ll be eating breakfast at DoveVale.)
