Well, it doesn’t have to be
alcohol. Wander round Tutbury and you will find several cafes – and why
not wander round Tutbury? It has shops, picture galleries, antique centres and possibly
more crystal glass than is good for one village (or town). The café in the
picture is half a mile from us. Of course, it is not just Tutbury that can be “wandered”
round as a prelude to tea or coffee. Burton
is another possibility as is Ashbourne, where the lack of crystal glass is more
than made up for by antiques centres and other places of interest.
Pubs that do not serve food are few
and far between but we have one in Hatton. The Railway Inn is a few minutes
walk from us. We see it as a traditional South Derbyshire
pub - friendly with no frills and open all day. It also serves coffee.
Doveside Social Club is another
possibility. Open all day from 12 noon, it offers Sky Sports.
